Challenge: HuHot, a national chain of hibachi restaurants, was rebranding and looking to unify their advertising elements. Part of this included developing music that would suit their brand of fun and irreverence. They also wanted us to create an audio library of sounds that could be regularly used in their future ads. They needed a series of branded radio spots that tied everything together.
Solution: There’s tons of cool stuff about HuHot, so we had a boat load of inspiration for this project. We started with the brand music and incorporated kitchen utensils, grills sizzling, and salt shakers as percussion elements. Then we began working on the beat–something lively, interesting and foreign sounding, but not unfamiliar. Once we composed the music we drew upon similar elements to develop the sound library that included hundreds of sounds. Consistent writing, voices, and production styles came together to create the sound that is “HuHot!”
